Story of a Boy 11-28.png

welcome to our story!

hello! my name is Blake, but most people know me as whiskey's owner. whiskey is a pure bred Labrador retriever with an endless amount of energy and a heart bigger than the great state of Texas.

whiskey is more than my dog. he is my constant joy, my nap buddy, and my best friend. we created ruff days for people that know that dogs are more than just animals. They are apart of our families.

Welcome to our story. welcome to the ruff life.

ADOPTION DAY - January 28th, 2017

I was in 8th grade when I adopted whiskey. My parents were hesitant on letting me have a dog. I did what any 8th grader with a goal would do... I made them a google slides presentation.

It made them laugh so hard that they agreed. I found whiskey a few days later. I Adopted him on the first day he was allowed to be adopted. He was the one boy in a litter of 14 girls.

guess he was born to be a lady's man.

early High school

just as whiskey was learning where the correct place was to go potty, I became a high schooler! Ahh, the glory years. My biggest Problem freshman through sophomore year was getting out of bed at 5 am for jazz band. whiskey got to sleep in.

My friends and I taught whiskey the essentials. He learned how to catch every type of ball, frisbee, and bounce a basketball with his paws. Whiskey would wait eagerly every day for me to come home and we would play for hours.

covid

the world shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic during my junior year of high school. I was forced into my basement for school, work, and life. Whiskey would not leave my side and gave me a reason to go outside.

graduation and first year

I graduated High School in 2021. Then, I journeyed from Minnesota down the the University of Arizona.  When I arrived, I was starry-eyed with the glistening ideal of college life at uofa.

The girls, the parties, the paradise campus. One thing was missing, Actually the most important thing: My Best friend. Whiskey stayed at home. We were reunited during Christmas and Summer.

Whiskey Moves In

I returned back to school without whiskey. I missed him so much and did not feel like myself. I wasn't fan of the typical college lifestyle. I fell to the lowest point, Lost weight, stayed in my apartment most of the time, and was working 14 hours a day straight.

My parents Surprised me during Parents' weekend by Bringing whiskey to say Hi. After one night, it was clear that he wasn't going back.

the college life

Whiskey is now a full time college dog. He has a whole campus as his backyard and hundreds of new friends. He goes everywhere with me except for class.

In my apartment, he makes sure to say Hi to everyone in the elevator. He gets a treat every time he passes the front desk. He knows which apartments that his friends live in.

He has his own treat box in the Entrepreneurship Center and is the honorary Office Dog.

Ladies Man

It would be an injustice to not show whiskey's lady side. Born to a litter of 14 girls, He has a way with the ladies.

I cannot complain.
